FN GAME JAM 2024 TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By submitting a project to the Fortnite Game Jam 2024 hosted by Jakus, you agree to all Terms and Conditions on this page.

FORTNITE GAME JAM TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. The Fortnite Game Jam is open to people aged thirteen (13) or older and adults of all ages, regardless of their nationality or country of residence.

• This jam is governed by the law of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, and international laws, including the laws of participants' home countries, do not have any ruling over the jam.

2. Access to the Fortnite Game Jam is restricted to those who have access to one (or both) of the following features in the Creator Portal:

• Publishing

• Teams

3. Each entrant may only be involved with one game submitted as part of this jam. The Organisers reserve the right to verify any entries and winners and may refuse to award prizes and/or disqualify entrants if entrants make or attempt to make any entry to this jam which is in our reasonable opinion contrary to these terms or by its nature unfair to other entrants (e.g. involves cheating or hacking).

4. The Organisers reserve the right to change any dates and schedules in relation to the jam or its stages. Details of any significant change will be communicated at the earliest possible time.

5. The Fortnite Game Jam encourages the creation of games that can be shared freely for play. However, we also understand the need for individuals and companies to protect their intellectual property rights. Generally, this means you cannot use copyrighted works in your game without receiving explicit permission from the copyright holder(s) or giving proper attribution if required by the license.

6. You are responsible for making sure you have the necessary rights, licenses, or permission for any game you submit as part of the Fortnite Game Jam. By submitting your game to the Fortnite Game Jam, you affirm, represent, and warrant that you own or have the rights, licenses, permissions, and consents necessary to publish, duplicate, and distribute the submitted game.

7. The Organisers do not condone activities that infringe or appear to infringe the intellectual property of others. Such activities may result in disqualification from the Fortnite Game Jam if the Organisers are notified of such violations and removal of your game from the competition. Removal and disqualification may occur without prior notice.

8. Teams retain all ownership rights to the games they submit to the Fortnite Game Jam. By submitting a game to the Fortnite Game Jam, you hereby grant the Organisers a license under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. Teams must share a review copy with the Organisers, via Island Code or Teams access. Else, they will be disqualified from the event and not eligible to any prizes.

9. You represent and warrant that you shall not transmit, post or upload any game that is, in whole or in part, libellous, scandalous, inflammatory, discriminatory, defamatory, false, threatening, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, profane, abusive, harassing, invasive of another’s privacy, hateful or bashing, aimed at gender, race, colour, sexual orientation, national origin, religious views or disability, or otherwise unlawful, or that violates or infringes on the privacy, publicity, intellectual property, proprietary, or contractual rights of any person or entity. You may not include imagery depicting real-world individuals in your game.

10. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Organisers and all their directors, affiliates, and sponsored, and to defend and hold each of them harmless, from any and all claims and liabilities arising out of or related to your breach of the Terms and Conditions or your participation in Fortnite Game Jam.

11. The Fortnite Game Jam Organisers shall not be liable to you or any third parties for any direct, indirect, special, consequential or punitive damages of any kind, regardless of the type of claim or the nature of the cause of action, even if the Organisers have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Without limiting the foregoing, the Fortnite Game Jam Organisers shall have no liability to you or any third parties for damages or harms arising out of your game.

12. The $1500 prize pool consists of an initial $250 pool from Jakus, a $1000 donation from Team Geerzy, and an additional $500 grant from Krootzy to a submission of his choosing, which may or may not be the same project as chosen by Jakus to win the $1000 main prize.

• Payments will be handled via PayPal. Participants must have a PayPal account or else they will be unable to receive their payment.

13. The participants agree with the fact that their online identities may appear on audiovisual material that will be recorded to promote the Fortnite Game Jam.

14. The participants recognise their real names will be made known to the Fortnite Game Jam Organisers via payment details, in the event they win a real money prize during the jam.

• This personal information is kept completely private and will never be disclosed to the public.

15. The participants recognise that a failure to follow the set theme, standards of entry, or other requirements, can and will be rejected from entering with no chance of appeal.

16. These Terms and Conditions, together with other documents referenced herein, constitute the entire Terms and Conditions governing you and your team’s participation in the Fortnite Game Jam and supersede all previous agreements.
